So with everything going on right now in the world, I thought I also might write something about the most discussed topic of the day. Thecoronavirushas turned the world upside down. Most countries are currently in alockdown. When I see how big the effects of thecoronavirusare for relatively rich countries I started to ask myself; what will happen if thecoronavirusreaches the less developed countries.

Yesterday I was watching it NOS news on the dutch television. They talked about thelockdownin India. People were losing their jobs because of thelockdownand no one could travel anymore. A lot of men who were working at a different place where stuck and they could not send money to theirfamiliebecause they lost their job. They don't know how long thelockdownwill last but the man who was talking said that if thelockdownwould last much longer they will die from hunger instead of thecoronavirus.

There arealready some people who are struggling to survive thelockdown. How terrible will it get when there is a huge outbreak in these areas. Thecoronavirusis currently more in the developed countries. But these countries only contain approximately 17% of the world's population. What about the other 80%? How big is the damage going to be for them. And is it possible to stop the virus from spreading to developing countries?

Not so long ago Africa has suffered from the Ebola outbreak. This was from 2013-2016. As of 8 May 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) and respective governments reported a total of 28,646 suspected cases and 11,323 deaths (39.5%), though the WHO believes that this substantially understates the magnitude of the outbreak. Ebola is a virus and also came from animals

A difference between Ebola and the coronavirus is that Ebola was less contagious than the coronavirus. When you watch the current numbers of the coronavirus they are already much higher than with Ebola. And this is only in the developed countries. Here you can check the stats yourself: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/.

Ebola was already problematic for some African countries. I think that developing countries will have a huge problem if there comes a corona outbreak in their countries. Their health-care systems are not as developed as the ones in the west and even in the west they are struggling. And I don't think people in African can as easily stay home and do social distancing as we can. For a lot of people this will result in hunger. Do you think there is a solution to prevent a huge outbreak in developing countries?
